The happiest I’ve ever been and hardest I’ve ever worked….becoming a mom…
You dedicate every waking hour making sure your children are taken care of. It’s a beautiful thing. It is also something that can take a toll. Ten years into my motherhood journey I finally decided that it was time for me to put my pen to paper….or fingers to keyboard….and share what is in my heart. Share something that over the years of me being a mom , things I have found to help keep me motivated, as well as things I am passionate about. It is not something that I just woke up one day and said THIS IS IT! It was a slow build.
After having my first daughter I was in the constant grind of motherhood and working. A baby that would NOT sleep for the first sixteen months of her life and the constant chaos that goes with it. I didn’t have any other dreams; I didn’t have time or the energy for it….or so I thought.
Fast forward to my second child, same beautiful chaos. So happy and grateful for my family but this ever nagging feeling like I wasn’t ever doing anything for myself or to better myself or feed any of my interests.
Turning from a working mom to SAHM was a decision that came because of my husband’s work schedule. I am lucky that we are able to do that. I am lucky to be able to see the moments in my kids’ lives that many do not get that option for one reason or another. Though being a beautiful thing, it can be even harder to find an outlet for yourself. Everything at home never stops, everything was always needing to be done, the constant Uber, chef, maid, Dr, caretaker…the list goes on. Where in there, was any time for something I might like to do, or something that would make me feel more rounded? There’s no time…… you already get to stay home you should be grateful for that! Right? Wrong!
Little did I know once I started taking the time for myself, things I enjoyed, my interests, I would feel more accomplished. The other aspects of life and motherhood were still there, but I was also feeling more myself.
Something for ME!
The Magic and motivation is within us all, though it may not all look and feel the same, it’s there. Whether it be starting with walks outside, researching a special vacation, honing in a craft or some DIY. The options can be endless.
